Maybe I overstated this one... Anyway, next July 8 marks the 143rd aniversary of the Ikedaya Affair, in which the Shinsengumi (as seen in Rurouni Kenshin and Peacemaker Kurogane) raided the Ikedaya inn and prevented what would have been destruction of Kyoto and the capture of the Daimiyo of Aizu. This is one of the truly noble acts perpetrated by the group. (Which, as some may know, the Shinsen had a spotty history...)
Anyway, I'm thinking of celebrating by dressing in Shinsengumi uniform for as long as I can (I don't know the camp schedule yet...) on Sunday July 8.
Any thoughts, critisms? Maybe a "You're a $@%!"? _________________
I live in cedar rapids, Ia, and i was up there for con this year, and I would be totally willing to drive up there and cosplay with you, its the day after my bday, so ill probably have a little extra cash for the trip. but let me know what you think. _________________ skiiiiiiiin...gooooood

Yeah it happens..I'm about to order my outfit for Sogen con..I just need to find a good wig at this point..and boots...yeah I'm getting behind of stuff already.
I cosplay when I can too..I've been wearing cat ears to work every now and then..and customers think they are bunny ears..or ask me is it halloween?? Its still funn. _________________

Dooooood! You don't have to be "normal"! "Normal" people are boring. But weirdos like us are interesting, because we'll dress up as Batman and Wonderwoman and go shopping at the Mall of America, wooo!
But really though, people who have never served in the military dress up in uniform designs that are well over a hundred years old, all for the sake of honoring what took place. Not many people would do that for a country they're not from, so feel special! (The unique kind of special, not the drooly kind.
